Luxury Family Hotels

Luxury Family Hotels, the pioneers of luxury family breaks in the UK, and recent winner of Family Traveller's Best UK Family Hotels Award, has seen a rise in family groups of all ages holidaying together and enjoying active pursuits during their stays, whatever the weather.

This is line with the recent 2018 travel trends announcement[1] from global luxury travel network Virtuoso® which states that after topping the list of trends since 2010, 3G or multigenerational travel is a firmly established travel niche.

Luxury Family Hotels has seen a 30% rise year on year of multigenerational holidays where parents, grandparents and grandchildren all holiday together.

They have not only found that families are increasingly coming together to enjoy landmark occasions like anniversaries, birthdays but that they are now also celebrating traditional holiday periods such as Easter, Christmas and New Year in large groups.

Consequently, these large family groups require activities and facilities that suit all ages, create lifelong memories and strengthen family bonds. Each hotel does just that - providing the tools families need for ditching the screens and heading to the great outdoors, including wellies, bikes, fishing nets and picnics, as well as spa treatments, books and indoor games to enjoy in a relaxed home-from-home setting.

On the doorstep..

  • The Ickworth hotel is set in the 1,800 acres of National Trust parkland and there are trails, a hidden walled garden with outdoor toys and games and forests and lakes to explore on foot, by bike (borrow one of the hotel's) or even by micro scooter! The National Trust adventure playground with a zip wire, slides, small maze and swings will provide hours of entertainment. Hands-on activities also include den building, tree climbing and bird spotting.

  • New Park Manor is also ideal for those who want to ditch the car and explore. Many of the trails can be accessed from the front door and the hotel provides walking and cycling maps. For those wanting to cycle, helmets and puncture repair kits are available, there are bike seats, tag-along bikes and even a trailer so everyone can go along for the ride. Families can also enjoy rope swings, paddling in streams and a scavenger hunt amongst the ancient oak trees.

Moonfleet Manor

Water lovers can go sailing, paddle boarding and windsurfing at the National Sailing academy in Portland, just a short drive from Moonfleet Manor hotel. For those who prefer to enjoy marine life on dry land, then The Sealife Centre in Weymouth, is great for kids of all ages – and it has a new adventure play area (https://www.visitsealife.com/weymouth/discover/caribbean-cove/).

  • In Cornwall, guests at Fowey Hall Hotel can take a leisurely glass-bottom boat trip around Looe Island to see the caves, sea birds and seals. Surfing is a hugely popular activity for more energetic visitors whatever the season while staying at the Polurrian Bay Hotel. Champion surfer Dan Joel gives surfing lessons at nearby Poldhu Beach at £25 per lesson with all equipment included[2].
  • Woolley Grange Hotel lies on the edge of the historic Bradford on Avon, where you can hire bikes, canoes or a narrow boat and pedal, row or potter along the scenic canal towards Bath (10 miles away). Adventurers can replenish their energy stocks with a picnic from the hotel or enjoy one of the many cafes or pubs along the way. There are also great walks in the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside and the beautiful parks of Bath - Prior Park with its magnificent Palladian bridge is only 15 minutes from the hotel or visit the Abbey in the Cotswold village of Lacock, to see where parts of Harry Potter were filmed.

Adrian Burley, Marketing Director of Luxury Family Hotels, says: “As our hotels are all in the UK they are easy for everyone to get to, without the extra hassle and cost of airports, flying and transfers.  They tick all the boxes for an easy multigenerational destination. At Luxury Family Hotels our guests enjoy venturing outdoors and appreciating the wonderful settings and surrounding areas where each of the hotels is based. There are lots of fun and interesting activities at the hotels and as well as nearby which means children sleep well at night, parents and grandparents can take advantage of the free baby listening and relax in the evening.”

Luxury Family Hotels is a collection of six individual luxurious country house style hotels offering a home-from-home atmosphere in beautiful surroundings.

Each hotel caters for the needs of parents with young children (kids go free when staying in parents' room). The complimentary Ofsted-registered crèche facilities offer fun and games for two hours a day. Baby equipment such as changing mats and cots are provided as well as bottle warming and food pureeing. Plus, there are plenty books, DVDs and games on hand. Each hotel also offers digital detox boxes which include a selection of toys, books and games for all the family to enjoy.

There are also pools and activities for families and games rooms and movie nights for older children. Plus, parents can take advantage of the complimentary baby listening service to enjoy delicious, locally sourced food and artisan drinks in a relaxed setting.
