Yu Hongs In and Out of Time Paintings on Silk at The Opposite House

The Opposite House

One of Chinas most celebrated contemporary female artists, Yu Hong, presents her latest works at The Opposite House in Beijing, selected from her recent solo show at the Guangdong Museum of Fine Art.

Yu centres her works and practice on her experience as a woman, taking inspiration from both her own life and the lives of others around her. In these works of resin, familiar figures are painted on silk and carefully imbedded within sheets of resin. Each transparent plaque shimmers under light, reflecting waves of luminosity that capture frozen moments of time and memory. This body of extraordinary work carries on Yus ongoing meditation of everyday experiences in China today.

The scale of Yu Hongs art and the interesting medium she has chosen interacts perfectly with our space. Its feminine lines complement our six-storey-high atrium and the shadows of our draping mesh at different times of day. says Anthony Ross, General Manager of The Opposite House.

On the collaboration, David Tung, Director of Long March Space Gallery in the 798 Art Zone shares, We are honoured to contribute to the great series of exhibitions at The Opposite House with the works of Chinas most celebrated female artist Yu Hong. The Opposite Houses commitment to bringing the best art programmes has established it as a prominent venue for culture and lifestyle.
