Renowned Archibald prize-winner Guy Maestri will take 10 lucky artists through their paces at the final Arajilla Artist Retreat, taking place from 4th - 7th June. A truly inspiring setting, Lord Howe Island is sure to engage the senses of all Retreat guests, with painting and sketching workshops to be held in a number of spectacular settings on the island, along with daily studio sessions.
Arajilla, Lord Howe Islands premier retreat and spa offers an ideal setting for these luxury long weekends. Maestri will guide artists on their exploration of the natural beauty of this unspoilt utopia; a journey of the senses beneath a canopy of Kentia Palms and Banyan Trees and onto the beach; a haven of tranquility and relaxation. This winning formula of talented and inspirational artists teamed with the luxurious setting of Arajilla Retreat has ensured the 2009/2010 Artist Retreat series to be a hugely successful initiative. The first two were sell-out events, lead by inspiring duo Gary Shead & Adam Rish, and the June Retreat is sure to be no exception.
Aside from his winning portrait of Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu in the 2009 Archibald Prize, Guy Maestri frequently looks to the natural world & its diverse wildlife for inspiration. The fragile nature of the universe and the representation of endangered species have been recurring themes throughout the young artists career. His expertise will be an invaluable resource for lucky participants attending the June Artists Retreat.
A strong appreciation and love of art is a prerequisite for participants to Arajilla Artist Retreats. Some drawing or painting skills naturally are recommended. Workshops are delivered in a very relaxed, casual format.
