Public Transit from Fresno International Airport, Amtrak, and Greyhound to Yosemite Valley
Mariposa, Calif. (March 1, 2015) – This year Yosemite Area Regional Transit System (YARTS) celebrate 15 years of service. The first YARTS routes began in May 2000 with service from Merced Amtrak and Greyhound stations to Yosemite Valley via the Highway 140 corridor. YARTS has now expanded to service in three of the four entrances to the park along Highways 140, 120, and Tioga Pass. Coming this summer, YARTS will begin service from Fresno to Highways 145 and 41 to Yosemite Valley, allowing for public transportation to all four Yosemite entrances. This provides many new travel connections to the YARTS service, such as the Fresno Yosemite International Airport, with flights arriving non-stop from 12 cities, including major hubs like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas/Fort Worth.
From the San Francisco/Bay Area, a traveler can enjoy service from San Francisco International Airport or any other BART station to the Richmond BART station where they can connect to Amtrak or Greyhound to Merced. YARTS buses are generally timed to meet the arrival of the Amtrak trains. From there travelers can make a connection to a YARTS bus that will transport them to several hotels located along the Highway 140 corridor and into Yosemite Valley. It is an affordable and relaxing way to leave your vehicle at home and easily travel to Yosemite National Park – which has its own year round free shuttle service that runs the Valley Floor.
When riding YARTS, the low fare includes the Yosemite gate fee. Service is also available year-round on the Highway 140 entrance to the park, so travelers don't need to worry about tire chain requirements if they plan to take YARTS bus from any hotel along the way. Visitors can pick up the YARTS just steps from their hotel if they are staying in the gateway towns of Mariposa and El Portal.
Enjoy breath-taking views as you travel to Yosemite National Park while traveling in the comfort, convenience, and safe fleet of beautiful over-the-road coaches, with air conditioning, restrooms, and reclining seats with seat belts. One child, 12 or younger, rides free with each paying adult. Additional children ride for a discounted fare. For example, a family of five (two adults and three children 12 or younger) ride for roughly half the regular full fare!
