Looking to tap into the travel trade market, YHA (England and Wales) has launched an unbeatable midweek offer at its five-star rated YHA Cardiff Central.  It is offering a bed and breakfast room rate for only £20 per night.

YHA Cardiff Central opened in 2014 following its acquisition from Mercure. The former three-star Mercure Lodge Hotel has had £4million invested in it by YHA (England and Wales) to transform it into comfortable, convenient and modern accommodation.

An on-site bar and restaurant as well as a free-to-use self-catering kitchen also positions YHA uniquely in the travel market. Joe Lynch, YHA (England and Wales) sales and marketing director, explained: “Any person who spends most of their week living out of a suitcase and eating hotel and takeaway food, will understand the luxury of being able to prepare something simple like cheese on toast and a cup of tea themselves while staying away from home. YHAs have always offered self-catering kitchens as well great value food themselves. Our facilities, combined with a £20 B&B price tag, is enabling us to offer the travel market a unique accommodation proposition in Cardiff.”

Situated  only  15  minutes'  walk  from  the  City  centre,  Central  train  station  and  the  Millennium Stadium, the YHA Cardiff Central is one of only a few accommodation providers in the Welsh Capital able to cater for large groups, offering 320 beds across 92 en suite rooms. There is free onsite parking for cars and coaches, free Wi-Fi throughout the building and a secure luggage store.

The hostel's upper floor has retained the premium bedrooms of the former hotel, featuring Queen-size beds and TVs, and are targeted at the weekday corporate and weekend romantic getaway travel market looking for comfortable, welcoming, low cost, centrally-located accommodation.

The new corporate travel offering from YHA is part of the 85 year old charity's reinvention and modernisation of its 160-strong network of properties throughout England and Wales, many of which are in cities including London, Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford and Stratford upon Avon.

More than £33million has been invested in the network since 2011, with many YHAs now boasting private en suite rooms, bedside charging points for electronic devices and licensed bars and restaurants.

Joe Lynch added: “We have a huge network of properties in a superb variety of locations which gives us the ability to target new markets. Already we have invested £2 million in camping and cabins at our more rural properties and we continue to invest in conferencing and meeting facilities.

Earlier this year YHA Cardiff Central received a 5-star rating from tourism body VisitWales and was top rated by LateRooms.com. James Ryan, Manager of YHA Cardiff Central added: “We are very proud of our hostel here at Cardiff and are delighted to have the label of '5-star accommodation'. It has the wow factor for all customers and blows people away when they walk through the door. It is a world class facility offering next generation YHA accommodation that goes above and beyond customers' expectations for prices that are incredibly low.”
