WORLDHOTELS affiliate Harbour Plaza Hong Kong has been rebranded as Harbour Grand Kowloon. The "Grand" in the name signifies the brand's greater emphasis on its 5-star image and luxury offerings.

The first property of Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Harbour Plaza Hong Kong was previously affiliated with WORLDHOTELS for five years after opening in 1996. The hotel returns as an affiliate of WORLDHOTELS Deluxe Collection to coincide with pre-rebranding strategy.

Harbour Grand Kowloon General Manager Jonathan A. Wilson, welcomed the image makeover, saying Located along the Kowloon waterfront, providing breathtaking views of Hong Kong's famous skyline, the hotel's decision to rebrand is a natural progression reflecting our already acknowledged 5-star status."

Rebranding follows the opening of Harbour Grand Hong Kong last year. There are now two Harbour Grand hotels in the city -- one on Kowloon side and the other on Hong Kong Island.

With 506 spacious guestrooms and 48 serviced suites, most with magnificent views of Victoria Harbour, and 7 choices of restaurant and bar, Harbour Grand Kowloon is on the north shore of Victoria Harbour, conveniently located adjacent to ferry piers linking to the three key Hong Kong island districts of Central, Wanchai and North Point. There is also complimentary shuttle bus service to Tsimshatsui MTR Station, Tsimshatsui East Station, and Hunghom Station -- where there are cross-border trains to mainland China.

The hotel also offers more than 10,000 square feet of function space, including a 4,500 square feet grand ballroom and three adjacent function rooms with broadband ports and pyrotechnic capabilities.

Acclaimed health facilities include a dazzling resort-style rooftop pool and whirlpool, and top-floor Fitness Centre with cardio machines, sauna, steam bath and spa.

Roland Jegge, Vice President for WORLDHOTELS Asia Pacific, said Rebranding of Harbour Grand Kowloon re-enforces its image as one of Hong Kong's leading luxury hotels.

"The brand is a major player in international hospitality, providing a distinctive blend of comfortable elegance, understated luxury and first-class facilities and services, at superb value.

The Harbour Grand Kowloon was awarded as the Best Independent Hotel by TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards in 2008.

Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts is wholly owned by Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited. The group currently manages WORLDHOTELS affiliates Harbour Grand Kowloon, Harbour Plaza Metropolis and The Kowloon Hotel. It also has five other properties including Harbour Grand Hong Kong, Harbour Plaza North Point, Harbour Plaza Resort City Tin Shui Wai, and Rambler Garden Hotel and Rambler Oasis Hotel in Tsing Yi.
