World Expeditions Launches 2014-5 Polar Brochure

World Expeditions

Australian adventure travel specialist, World Expeditions, has launched its 2014-15 Polar brochure and it’s brimming with great new voyages to Antarctica, The Arctic and Russia, including cruising, kayaking, diving, snowshoeing, mountaineering and, for the first time, polar snorkelling.

The interactive experience of stepping off the boat and into the surreal world of the Polar Regions is an experience like no other and the opportunity to swim through crystal clear waters in specially designed waterproof snorkel-drysuits provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal to the striking landscapes.

Nestled amongst ice flows of the northern Weddell Sea is the little known Seymour Island, the new 11 day Weddell Sea Adventure provides an opportunity to explore this ancient dinosaur playground aboard the Polar Pioneer.  As well as the fossil-rich rocks and amazing polar wildlife, this new itinerary offers opportunities to snorkel and kayak for US $925 and US $975 respectively.  A camping option is available at no extra charge.  The adventure is priced from US $7,100 triple share (excluding flights).

There’s an opportunity to climb some of Antarctica’s amazing Trans Antarctic Range on the new 12 day Antarctic Peninsula for Kayakers and Climbers itinerary.  This itinerary combines our classic voyage to the Peninsula with an opportunity to climb on the magnificent, rarely climbed, western flanks of this impressive range.  The climbing option is US $250; kayaking is US $995 and camping is no additional cost and the trip is priced from US $8,700 triple share.  (NEWSFLASH: The 12 days Antarctic Peninsula Basecamp departing 4 March,  2014, aboard Ortelius is included in our specials, and priced from USD$5,840 per person.)

For the true action addicts, World Expeditions’ Antarctic Peninsula Basecamp trip is the pinnacle with the vessel becoming a floating basecamp, with activities available including kayaking, snowshoeing, climbing and camping.  There’s even a diving option available for US $520.  Of course, the ship’s fleet of zodiacs are available to explore the rich diversity of wildlife that flourishes in the sheltered bays, clustered castles of icebergs and steep glaciers that characterise the shoreline.   The trip is priced from US $7,300 quad share.

As well as the new itineraries, there’s also a luxurious new vessel, the purpose-built Silver Explorer expedition cruise ship, which has been designed specifically for navigating polar waters.   Supported by a fleet of Zodiac boats,  guests have easy access to secluded locations for wildlife spotting and appreciating the astonishing landscape.  The vessel includes the added luxuries of a fitness centre, spa and theatre onboard and operates the Explore Antarctica and the Svalbard to Tromsø itineraries.

Virtually untouched by any human development, the polar regions truly are the world’s wild frontiers and World Expeditions’ Polar itineraries are more than just voyages.
