Macao - The Winter in Venice Photo Competition will return to The Venetian® Macao for the third consecutive year this winter. The competition invites photographers in Macao and from around the world to come and capture the goings-on at the seasonal extravaganza. Entrants should seek inspiration from the host of activities that will accompany Winter in Venice, which will last from Dec. 3, 2014 until Jan. 4, 2015, and particularly focus their efforts on the people, activities or architecture of the event. Those who make the grade will be in with a chance of winning the top prize of MOP 10,000. The best entries will also be displayed for all to see and admire.
Organised by The Venetian Macao, the Winter in Venice Photo Competition is supported by the Macao Multimedia Photographic Art Association, the Photography Salon Society of Macao, the Macao Digital Photography Association, The Photographic Society of Macao, MCGAS, the Macao Association of Photographers, Companhia Foto Time, Lda., Digital Hang Seng, Foto Fantastic, Foto New Asia and Foto Chi Pak.
Entries of original photos (8”x10” to 8”x12” prints, without frames, black and white or colour) must be submitted between Dec. 22, 2014 and Jan. 10, 2015* to qualify, with each contestant allowed to submit a maximum of 10 raw image files without any edits or software manipulation. Participants must also submit the photo in JPEG format on disc, with a resolution of at least 3,000 pixels. The photographer's name, contact telephone number, email address, photo title and photo serial number should be clearly listed on the reverse side of each submitted photo. All registered information (including personal data and contact details) must be genuine in order for winning entrants to claim prizes. Both local and overseas applicants must complete an entry form#. All applicants should state clearly which category (local or overseas) they are participating in.
Entrants for the Macao Residents category can submit works along with a completed entry form# to any of the participating local photo shops listed:

A total of 56 winning entries from the two categories will be selected on Jan. 24, 2015, with the names of the winners being published Jan. 28, 2015, in major Macao newspapers, and on the website of The Venetian Macao (www.venetianmacao.com/winter-in-venice). Winners will also be notified by phone or email. The winning photos will be displayed at the Winter in Venice Photo Exhibition. The prize presentation and the photo exhibition opening ceremony will be held Feb. 8, 2015, at The Venetian Macao.
The top photo will earn its photographer a trophy and MOP 10,000; two first runners-up will each receive a trophy and MOP 6,000, and three second runners-up will each get a trophy plus MOP 3,000. In addition, a total of 50 photographers will receive an Award of Merit and a food and beverage coupon worth MOP 800.
Winter in Venice
This coming winter from Dec. 3 to Jan. 4, Winter in Venice will return in full swing, providing guests with a delightful wintry wonderland.
Participants of the photo competition can expect an exciting show which is new for this year's event – “Infinity Bounce Trampoline Spectacular” – which combines computer-controlled LED suits with a stunning interactive lighting set. Another must-see will be the dazzling 3-D light and sound spectacular “Seasons of Wonder” on The Venetian Macao's façade. What's more? Winter in Venice will also feature a stunning outdoor winter wonderland, replete with a towering giant Christmas tree bathed in lights, a genuine ice-skating rink, enchanting stringed lights, winter markets, and non-stop entertainment. Winter in Venice promises to bring the ultimate seasonal experience like no other in the region and home to a truly magical experience.
