Festival Lausanne Lumières – enchanting combination of Christmas lights & art
When: 21st of November – 31st December 2014

For the third year running the city will be celebrating Festival Lausanne Lumières. Poetic, avant-garde and in keeping with the urban space and the architecture, the Christmas lights in Lausanne will be an event in their own right. From 21st November until 31st December, thirteen art projects will brighten the streets and squares of the city centre for the enjoyment of locals and visitors. Free guided tours are available throughout the event, allowing guests an insight into the inspiration behind each project.

Swiss Christmas market – local produce and unique Christmas gifts
Lausanne also welcomes over fifty illuminated winter chalets to the city for their annual Christmas markets. The markets can be found throughout the city with local trade stalls selling traditional produce to tempt and delight all shoppers looking for that perfect Christmas gift. For a whole month, the market atmosphere is enhanced by children's activities, choral groups, gospels and Father Christmas himself.

Switzerland's largest real-life Nativity Play
The city also plays host to Switzerland's largest and most beautiful real-life nativity play, this is one of the highlights of the festive period in Lausanne.
