The Algarve is a fabulous destination, even in the winter - over 60 white sandy beaches to boast, over 30 superb golf courses on a strip measuring 250km, the most temperate climate on Continental Europe in the winter with many days with day-time temperatures around 17-18ºC and top quality hotels. The Sagres Peninsula has its own microclimate, making it the warmest spot in the winter on Continental Europe - many Canadians remember having travelled to the South-westernmost point in Europe during their trips around Europe - Cape of St. Vincent and Sagres have a historical value to Portuguese heritage. This is where Dom Henrique (\"Henry the Navigator\") set up his Schools of Navigation which spearheaded the Portuguese \"Age of Discoveries\" in the 15th century.

The Canadian market has yet to discover the Algarve - there are direct flights from Toronto to Faro (FAO) in the Algarve from February 2013 with AirTransat (www.airtransat.ca) Packages for long-stay winter deals are available at Martinhal, including golf at a different course every day - simply enquire when contacting reservations.
There are also direct flights from Canada into Lisbon and itineraries are available for Lisbon-Martinhal, or Lisbon-Alentejo- Martinhal too, if golf is not the only interest.
