Against the backdrop of sparkling lights, local musicians and street performers will stage a live show of song, dance and acrobatics. Following the launch, a six-week, city-wide programme of cultural and gastronomic festivities will bring Palma's streets alive with festive beats. The city's many markets will also embrace the yuletide theme with handicrafts, tree decorations and Christmas gifts galore.
Open daily from 10:00 until 21:00, most of the stalls are found around Plaça Major and Plaça d'Espanya, with others in Via Roma and along the Rambla. There are also 'Betlems' (Nativity scenes) all around the town centre, the main one located in front of Palma's town hall at Plaça Cort.
Fiestas de Sant Sebastia
From 18 to 19 January 2020, Palma de Mallorca, will come alive with one of its most anticipated and spectacular winter festivals – the Fiestas de Sant Sebastia. Traditionally held in celebration of the city's patron Saint Sant Sebastia, the fiestas see locals and visitors alike shake off the winter blues for three days of outdoor barbecues, fireworks, live music and parades. The big night is on the 19 January, the day of Saint Sebastian when a big bonfire is lit at the Plaça Major to mark the beginning of the festivities.
