Windstar Cruises, a leader in small-ship cruising, will offer a second food and wine voyage exploring the south coast of Spain. Windstar's flagship sailing yacht, Wind Surf, will depart from Barcelona, Spain on November 15, 2014 on an epicurean itinerary that includes Sóller, Valencia, Cartagena, Almería, Málaga, and Cádiz, ending in Lisbon, Portugal. This special themed voyage starts at $2,999 per person.
"Our guests have expressed strong interest in culinary and wine themed cruises. In fact, our first such voyage, Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain, sold out so quickly we are offering this second voyage by popular demand," said Hans Birkholz, Windstar Cruises' chief executive officer. "Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain II allows food and wine enthusiasts to experience the local flavor of Spanish cuisine and wine while exploring its culture and traditions in Windstar's signature small ship style."
Culinary & Wine Delights of Spain II will be hosted by Stephen Metzler and Almudena de Llaguno, founders of Classical Wines, America's most respected importers of Spanish wines. Their insights and expertise will provide guests a unique look at the ingredients, cuisines, and techniques that give Spanish food and wine its signature flavours.
Voyage highlights include:
• Two hosted dinners with specially crafted menus featuring the best of Spanish food and wine pairings;
• A selection of six complimentary Spanish wines, in addition to daily wine tastings throughout the cruise;
• Two complimentary local vineyard and culinary excursions;
• A special onboard flamenco dance performance.
Every port offers a new experience on this especially themed voyage. Among the many fascinating options are a visit to Jerez de la Frontera, the "Sherry Capital of the World," time to explore the Museo de Vino (wine Museum) in Mijas, private lessons in how to prepare paella under the guidance of a local chef, and learning the traditional method of producing olive oil in Mallorca.
