Windsor's Historic Guildhall and the 10 Year Royal Wedding Anniversary

Windsor and the Royal Borough

On 09 April 2015, The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary.

Back in 2005, worldwide attention focused on Windsor Guildhall where their ceremony took place, followed by a blessing in St George's Chapel and reception in Windsor Castle's State Apartments. Visitors to Windsor can see inside all three venues during a short break here.

It is not just Royalty who can marry at Windsor Guildhall. The intimate Ascot Room where HRH Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles was, later that same year, the setting for one of England's first Civil Partnership ceremonies between Sir Elton John and David Furnish.

With two historic rooms available, the Guildhall is the most popular wedding venue in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, accounting for over 25% of all ceremonies taking place. The Chamber is graced by a fine collection of royal portraits, and two huge chandeliers which are on loan from HM Queen Elizabeth II. The Ascot room gained a new feature in 2013 when Her Majesty unveiled two stained glass windows that were commissioned to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

Thankfully it doesn't cost a royal fortune to marry at Windsor Guildhall. Prices start from £375 for the hour. And while a reception in Windsor Castle's State Apartments might not be readily available, there is no shortage of alternative prestigious and welcoming venues nearby.

During the day, St George's Chapel can be visited as part of the Windsor Castle experience. Alternatively visitors are welcome to attend evensong at 5.15pm each evening, which is free of charge.
