Mountain Biking
Northumberland is a cyclist's paradise - and if you're into wild landscapes, Kielder Water & Forest Park is the place for you! Breathtaking views and thrilling trails are sure to give you a day to remember! Difficulty varies from the easy green trails for beginners up to severe black trails only suitable for expert riders - no matter what your level, there'll be a trail for you at Kielder. If you didn't bring a bike with you on your trip to Northumberland, not to worry - the Kielder Cycle Centre offers an array of bikes for you to whizz around on for the day.
After you've worn yourself out, head to Battlesteads Hotel and Restaurant for a great taste of Northumberland.
Go Bird-watching
Amble is home to the UK's only puffin festival, inspired by the colourful 36,000-bird colony nesting on Coquet Island, an RSPB seabird sanctuary a mile off the coast. Watch the birds on a Puffin Cruise sailing from Amble harbour.
For those who prefer to keep their feet on terra firma, the 'friendliest port' of Amble is a haven for lovers of independent shops. Head to the unique Pods on the Harbour to browse local products. Boutique ice-cream maker Spurreli's is a sweet-treat must!
Horse Riding
There are few better ways to explore Northumberland than on horseback. Miles of country lanes, outdoor spaces and beaches make for excellent riding trails to gallop along - taking in breathtaking views as you go. The beautiful Northumberland National Park or North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is sure to be a treat for any equine enthusiast, while the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers plenty of golden sand to explore.
Be sure to take your camera if you take a horseback ride along Bamburgh Beach. The views of Bamburgh Castle are not to be missed!
Put simply, with so much to do in Northumberland, a holiday in this gorgeous region is guaranteed to entertain the whole family. Get exploring Northumberland now for a taste of the UK's great outdoors.
