New Caledonia Tourism has given Australian product managers, travel trade and wholesalers a front row seat to the best of the destination with its fifth annual Rendezvous Workshop and famil.

The week-long event kicked off with a pre-workshop famil for Australian product managers and travel trade between 21 – 27 May. The group explored cosmopolitan capital, Noumea, and the pristine Isle of Pines, experiencing the true range of diverse activities on offer in the destination – from ultralight flights over the island's lush mountains and forests, horseback riding in Bourail and snorkelling in the UNESCO World Heritage listed lagoon and its reef.

The event culminated on 28 May with the Rendezvous Workshop, which saw 13 wholesalers from across Australia gather with over 122 representatives from New Caledonia's tourism industry at Sheraton Deva New Caledonia Spa & Golf Resort. The hotel opened up its world-class meeting and conference facilities, allowing representatives from Booking.com, Expedia and Flight Centre to meet with tourism suppliers, including key hotels and activity operators, and learn about the South Pacific destination. In between, guests enjoyed the hotel's stunning surrounds – including the lush Deva Domain reserve and 13km white sand Poe Beach.

New Caledonia Tourism Australian Director, Margot Deltour, acknowledged the famil and workshop as a key event in the tourism board's annual calendar.

“We look forward to the Rendezvous Workshop and famil each year as it really provides wholesalers, product managers and the travel trade with direct experience of the best of New Caledonia and the latest news from the destination. We know this is invaluable when it comes to speaking with clients and the wider industry,” said Ms Deltour.

“Each aspect of this year's workshop and famil has been designed to bring to life the force behind our current New Cal Pulse campaign, which is of course the huge range of activities available in the destination. We've had such positive feedback to date from the workshop and famil attendees, and we look forward to seeing how this rolls out in terms of sales and visitation over the next few months.”

With Noumea only two hours from Brisbane, under three hours from Sydney and less than four hours from Melbourne, New Caledonia is a South Pacific island destination where travellers can have it all.
