Who Wants to be a Milliner? In Conversation with Hat-maker Extraordinaire Stephen Jones
Master milliner Stephen Jones will be discussing his most famous designs and opening his extraordinary archive as part of a special event at Blenheim Palace at 7pm on Monday, March 20th.
The royal hat maker, whose work is currently on display as part of the Oxfordshire stately home's 'A Passion For Fashion' exhibition, is hosting an exclusive event in the Long Library.
Guests will be welcomed with champagne before enjoying an entertaining evening in the company of one of the world's greatest hat makers.
Milliner Stephen Jones has been creating sharp and stylish hats for men and women for more than 30 years.
He burst on to the London fashion scene during its explosion of street style in the late seventies.
By 1980, he had opened his first millinery salon in London's Covent Garden which soon became a place of pilgrimage and patronage, as everyone from Boy George to Princess Diana sported his designs.
In addition to Princess Diana, his famous client lists includes everyone from Mick Jagger to Rihanna.
Described as the greatest millinery collaborator of his generation, Stephen has worked with fashion designers as divers as John Galliano at Dior and the legendary Vivienne Westwood.
He curated the immensely popular 2009 exhibition at London's V&A Museum: 'Hats, an Anthology by Stephen Jones' and his hats are collected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
Now, as ever, at the forefront of fashion, his beguiling hats routinely grace the most celebrated magazine covers and enliven window displays of the world's most stylish shops.
Whether its runways, race-courses or royal garden parties, millinery by Stephen Jones continues to turn heads.
- 'In Conversation with Stephen Jones' is on Monday, March 20th from 7pm in the Long Library at Blenheim Palace. Tickets cost £30, including champagne. Please contact the Palace's Operations Team to book on 01993 810530.
