The Star

Sydney's premiere entertainment destination, The Star, has a range of offers to keep you entertained this June. Take in all of the action of this year's Vivid Sydney Festival at the Vivid Sydney Game Zone at Pyrmont and The Star, enjoy live performances at The Star Event Centre or watch the NSW VB Blues take on the XXXX QLD Maroons for State of Origin Game II.

Vivid Sydney | until 8 June

Now until 8 June, Pyrmont and The Star are lighting up for Vivid Sydney in 2015 with an expanded footprint of interactive activity to create the Vivid Sydney Game Zone at Pyrmont and The Star. The precinct will include multiple audience operated interactive zones including: installations at Pyrmont Bay Park dubbed 'Pyrmont Pyro' and 'Mission Control', the Vivid Lounge at Sky Terrace, the iconic 'Star' sign with its own bespoke light installation and the Murray Street trees that will come to life with light to ensure you find your way. Don't let your eyes have all the fun; The Star's retail precinct will play host to the Vivid Treats pop up dessert bar serving sweet treats including rich hot chocolate, popcorn, tantalising fairy floss, sumptuous crepes and crave-worthy coffee.

State of Origin Game II | 17 June

The Star is proud to be the official home of the NSW Blues. Australia's greatest rivalry will continue on 17 June with State of Origin Game II. With over 50 LCD TVs and four mega screens including the newest 34 square metre LED screen, you won't miss a minute of the action at 24/7 Sports Bar. The Event Centre will also be showing the game on a 10m by 5.5m LED screen, the highest resolution indoor screen in Sydney.

Anh Do | 19 June

Comedian Anh Do brings his best-selling memoir, The Happiest Refugee, to life in a ground-breaking new stand-up show at The Star Event Centre.

Anh Do travelled to Australia in 1980 on an eight metre fishing boat with 47 other Vietnamese refugees. Sick with dehydration and one person already dead, the journey was the first of many struggles for a young Do, who overcame all manner of difficulties throughout his life to become a lawyer and, in 2008, Australia's Comedian of the Year.

Today he is one of Australia's most sought after stand-ups, as well as a talented writer, actor, producer and corporate entertainer.

Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell | 27 June

Two of the most acclaimed singer songwriters of all time - Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, will perform live at The Star Event Centre.

A 13-time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award recipient, Harris' contribution as a singer and songwriter spans 40 years. Crowell is a multi-Grammy-award winner whose songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Norah Jones, Etta James and Grateful Dead among others.

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell came together in 2012 to record what was to become their Grammy Award winning album Old Yellow Moon.  The album was released in 2013 to critical acclaim with NPR Music calling it, “a classic in every sense of musical accomplishment”.
