Alaska Seaplanes announces first flight from Juneau to Whitehorse

For the first time in nearly a decade, Alaska Seaplanes has announced its first scheduled service to the capital of the Yukon, Whitehorse. The new regular service between Juneau, Alaska, and Whitehorse started on 15 June 2018 after Alaska Seaplanes received its Foreign Air Operating Certificate from Canadian authorities.

The service will be conducted with a Pilatus PC-12, the newest addition to the Alaska Seaplanes fleet. The pressurized Pilatus seats nine, can fly at over 300 mph, and makes the trip in approximately 50 minutes. Ground handling at Eric Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport will be conducted by Air North, the Yukon's Airline.

Carl Ramseth, General Manager of Alaska Seaplanes said; “We're very grateful for the partnership that's developed between Alaska Seaplanes and Air North, offering travellers greater access to the Yukon's interior, including Dawson City among other destinations.”

Roundtrip flights will operate three days per week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, making weekend trips convenient. Fares will start at $249 USD (approximately £142) each way plus applicable international taxes. Service will operate through the summer tourism season.

By the end of June, Juneau-Whitehorse flights will also be visible on all major online travel agency websites such as Kayak and Travelocity. All other Alaska Seaplanes flights are featured there currently.
