Sip your way to good health with InterContinental Hong Kong's New Agarwood Tea Set showcasing Premium Chinese Tea
Acclaimed for its multiple health benefits, Agarwood Tea is a natural detoxifier.
While agarwood has traditionally been used in Asian medicinal and spiritual practices, it is now becoming integrated into a healthy lifestyle regime.
Agarwood tea provides surprising health benefits and is a great alternative to hot, caffeinated tea, or can be a refreshing, cold, thirst quencher. It has zero caffeine and provides natural hydration without the sugar.
Some of the many benefits of drinking agarwood tea:
Agarwood is a natural detoxifier and natural way to remove harmful toxins from your body.
Agarwood tea is a natural diuretic which helps to rebalance the digestive system and therefore promote weight loss. It promotes healthy, clear skin and helps to prevent premature aging.
It helps to reduce blood sugar and blood pressure, as well as cholesterol and uric acid.
As it is caffeine and sugar free, it therefore helps to improve sleep. It can even help to eliminate asthma and bronchitis. (It has the same health benefits when drinking the tea either hot or cold.)
What exactly is agarwood?
From the family of Aquilaria and Gyrinops, the tree, when wounded and infected by a fungal or bacteria attack, produces a dark, dense and aromatic resin to aid in suppressing the fungal growth. The resin embedded wood is commonly known as aloes, aloeswood or agarwood.
On display in the Lobby Lounge is a rare and precious Agarwood Showpiece from Vietnam (Tỉnh Quảng Ngãi) that is over 100 years old.
The Lobby Lounge's Agarwood Chinese Tea Set includes a selection of premium Chinese tea, steeped with agarwood from Vietnam.
The premium Chinese tea selection includes
- Dongding Oolong, a half fermented tea with an aroma of cymbidium (boat orchids)
- Zhejiang Super Long Jin, which has a chestnut flavour and scent
- Fuding Jasmine Dragon Pearl, an aromatic jasmine tea with delicate “pearl” buds which open like flowers
- Fuding Silver Needle, a white tea with a natural aroma
- Yunnan Aged Pu Er, an exclusive aged black tea with a mellow flavour
The Agarwood Chinese Tea Set is served in a stunning red lacquered 3-tiered box and includes a selection of savoury regional specialties. Chinese pastries and a basket of dried longan and chestnut madeleines.

Cocktails made with home-matured whisky from the hotel's own oak barrels
Starting August 29th, the Lobby Lounge will present tailor-made Premium Vintage Whisky Cocktails.
The cocktails are made with premium whisky that has matured in the hotel's own oak barrels purchased from France. One of the wine barrels was previously aging "Syrah" wines; while the other was aging "Malbec" wines.
The hotel's Beverage Manager Cadition Law specially selected two famous whiskies (Cutty Sark 12 Years & Chivas Regal 12 Years) to mature in the oak wine barrels for 30 days. As per Cadition, “The oak barrel aging adds a new depth and oaky flavour to these vintage whiskies.”
The vintage whiskies are then used to make well-known classic cocktails
including “Leo Engel's Saddle Rock – 1878” and “The Waldorf-Astoria's Rob Roy” (both priced at HK$210)
The oak wine barrels will be on display in the Lobby Lounge.
The Agarwood Tea Set, Artisanal Carbonated Cocktails and Premium Vintage Whisky Cocktails will be available in the Lobby Lounge on an ongoing basis.
Please add 10% service to all prices.
