WAILEA, MAUI, HI. (July 26, 2013) – As summer comes to a close, Grand Wailea is looking ahead to the exciting new initiatives the hotel has planned for fall. Coming off of exciting summer happenings like the first anniversary of celebrity chef Alan Wong’s Amasia restaurant, Grand Wailea is eager to share some of its upcoming fall programs:
· For National Honey Month in September, the Grand Wailea will go up against sister property Waldorf Astoria New York, to determine which hotel’s bees produce the better tasting honey through a blind tasting of the raw honey by a panel of judges in the “Battle of the Bees” media event.
· Grand Wailea has created a new “Wilderness Survival Program” inspired by entertainment programs of the same vein (“Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “Hunger Games,” etc.). A great way to teach teens about Hawaiian culture and get them active, stations include the Fish Pipe (world’s first rotating barrel ride), an archery practice with a state of the art video game, and important lessons on living off the land like a true Hawaiian.
· World-renowned Spa Grande is working on a new farm-to-table treatment incorporating taro to join its already popular Ali’i Honey Steam Cocoon treatment, which uses artisanal honey made by the bees in the rooftop hives, and Niu Coconut Muscle Relief treatment, which uses coconut husks to drain the lymph nodes.
Rates start at $399 per night for double occupancy in deluxe garden room accommodations. To book a Maui retreat at the Grand Wailea, guests may call 800.232.4604 or visit www.grandwailea.com.
