Virgin Atlantic Begins Service to Atlanta! Beginning Oct. 26, 2014, Virgin Atlantic will be operating one of Delta's three daily flights from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to London Heathrow. This marks the first time for Virgin in the Atlanta market.
Center for Civil and Human Rights – Now Open! Through interactive exhibits, historical artifacts and strong imagery, The Center serves as a catalyst for civil and human rights conversation. Located next to the World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium, The Center's theatrical and high-tech exhibits use motion, sights and sounds to immerse visitors in the American Civil Rights Movement. Touch screen video panels bring visitors face-to-face with human rights activists from around the world.
Buckhead Atlanta – Now open! Buckhead Atlanta combines the walkable, tree-lined streets of Paris with the haute shops of Rodeo Drive. This ultimate street-scene is comprised of six city blocks that fit seamlessly into the existing neighborhood, often referred to as “Beverly Hills of the East.” Buckhead Atlanta's multitude of shops, restaurants and cafés will include Spanx's flagship store, French high-fashion house Hermès, Atlanta's first Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Shake Shack and Georgetown Cupcakes, among many others. Retail and dining spaces begin opening this September with rolling openings through 2015.
Atlanta Streetcar – late 2014. Beginning service this summer, the $90-million Atlanta Streetcar project provides visitors with a convenient way to travel along Downtown Atlanta's tourism district. The streetcar forms a 2.7-mile loop with stops at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, Downtown Atlanta hotels, Centennial Olympic Park, and Edgewood Avenue, among others.
Ponce City Market – late 2014 through 2015. Situated along the nationally acclaimed Atlanta BeltLine, Ponce City Market is poised to become the hub between Atlanta's most popular in-town neighborhoods. Opening late 2014, this urban market will house a food hall, shops, office space, modern apartments, and amusements, like rooftop mini golf, bocce courts, a bike valet, and more. The two million-square-foot historic structure is the largest adaptive reuse project in Atlanta's history and is inspired by New York City's Chelsea Market.
Porsche Driving Experience – late 2014. Atlanta will be the new home for Porsche's North American headquarters and North America's first Customer and Driver Experience Center. The Driver Experience Center will feature a test track, restaurant and Porsche shop and allow visitors to experience what it's like to drive a Porsche automobile. The site will be located adjacent to the new Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
