The Coppermines & Lakes Cottages

Whatever your ability, there's something for everyone when it comes to walking in and around Coniston, the Lake District

Whether it's a family adventure, a gentle stroll or a challenging climb you are after, you won't be disappointed by the Lakeland village of Coniston and the endless opportunities it offers to stretch the legs.

Overlooked by the majestic Coniston Fells and with the beautiful Coniston Water and its lakeside paths only minutes from the village, you can get out and enjoy the impressive views whatever your walking ability.

A favourite for families, there's  the scenic Tarn Hows just down the road, which offers an accessible 1 ¾ mile walk through stunning countryside, plenty of places to picnic and a well-surfaced circular track suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

You don't even need to get the car out, because there is a picturesque route to Tarn Hows from the head of Coniston Water, through iconic Lake District farm and woodland as well as the walled garden and tree collection of Monk Coniston Hall.

If you fancy putting the walking boots on for a hike, that can be sorted too, with Coniston Old Man (2,634m) and Dow Crag (2,552ft) guaranteed to tire you out and make you set for some lovely local grub at one of the village's many country pubs.

If it's mountains and gorgeous views that make you smile, where better to stay during your trip to Coniston than surrounded by fells in the Coppermines Valley.

The Coppermines and Lake District Cottages offer holiday lets right in the heart of the valley for all party sizes ranging from 2 – 22 people. With panoramic views and clear mountain air this is the perfect place to rest your feet and relax.

If you'd prefer to have the village amenities right on your doorstep, The Coppermines have around 50 cottages available, from cosy romantic  hideaways to charming cottages once graced by Beatrix Potter, to larger properties with private lake access.

Just like the walking routes in Coniston, at Coppermines there is something for everybody.
