It's Spring, time to refresh, restore and reinvigorate. What better time for a Girls' Night Out -- a reason for a woman to get away with her friends for a day of Spa treatments, elegant dinner (prepared by someone else) and luxurious accommodations in a grand hotel? Wentworth By the Sea, the historic seaside resort that underwent a makeover of her own to reopen last summer after decades of neglect, has put together a Ladies' Escape package with all the elements combined. The $298* ($149 per person; $200 per person after 5/20) package includes: Sumptuous accommodations in a tasteful, traditionally appointed room with a view out to sea or over Little Harbor and the Portsmouth treetops. Rooms feature high speed Internet access, remote controlled color television and in-room movies (time to watch that film he just doesn't want to see), custom artwork by local marine painter Christopher Ward, and even radiant heating beneath the marble bathroom floors. Choice of Spa treatment in the 8,500 sq. ft. Wentworth By the Sea Spa. Options include the Classic Wentworth Massage, Classic Pedicure, Classic Manicure or Classic Facial. Soak in the jacuzzi, swim a few laps in the indoor pool, or meditate in the serene Relaxation Room with its subtle Japanese and Russian design elements that recall the hotel's role in the 1905 Peace Conference that ended the Russo-Japanese War. Dinner in the Wentworth Dining Room -- a spring-green space beneath a handpainted mural in a gold-leaf trimmed dome. Chef Daniel Dumont champions new New England cuisine -- deconstructed classics, creatively reassembled using local ingredients, especially fish and shellfish. Full breakfast buffet for lingering a bit longer in escapist mode. This package is available Sunday through Thursday nights. For reservations call tollfree 866-240-6313. Visit http://www.wentworth.com/hotel/54000040.asp for a full menu of Wentworth Spa treatments. Advance Spa Appointments strongly recommended.
Wentworth By the Sea, a member of Historic Hotels of America, reopened last June after a $27 million restoration that added an 8,500 sq. ft. Spa wing with indoor pool and jacuzzi, fireplaces in 18 of the guest suites, and the waterfront hideaway Little Harbor Marina Suites. Awarded the American Institute of Architects' Award of Excellence, AAA's Four Diamond award, and National Trust for Historic Preservation recognition, the 161-room hotel has incorporated the three distinctive original Victorian towers and as many architectural details as could be salvaged into the only modern luxury resort on the NH Seacoast.
