We Share Our Fortune Operation No Winter Blues - Donna Air And The Canary Islands Search For Four Volunteers To Take Part In A Very Special Mission

The Canary Islands, the best active tourism destination for water sports, nature, wellness and family holidays, has launched a campaign Were sharing our good fortune: Operation No Winter Blues to find 4 British people to take an all expenses paid holiday to the Canary Islands. This is the UK arm of an international campaign aiming to promote tourism at a European level by positioning the archipelago as the ideal place to beat the Winter Blues with its 364 days of sunshine a year. All this week, a crack team of casting agents will be scouring the UK searching for people to take part in a casting session at Spotlight Studios, 7 Leicester Place, London WC2H 7RJ on December 16th. Their search will take them from the streets of London to the sunshine of the Canaries, recording their experiences through internet blogs and word of mouth. The event, designed to pick the four best candidates to be sent on an all expenses paid holiday to the Canary Islands in January 2010, will be judged by a team of ambassadors from the Canaries, who themselves were selected because of their personalities and love of the archipelago. Donna Air, spokesperson for the campaign, commented At this time of year, when the weather is dire in England, there can be no better place to escape to than the Canary Islands. Im a great fan of the Canary Islands and am thrilled to be involved in the campaign. THE SELECTION PROCESS All this week, a crack team of casting agents will be scouring the streets of London looking for hundreds of British people who identify strongly with the archipelago and its array of tourist attractions to take part in an original and fun casting session to become one of the 4 fortunate candidates chosen to escape the winter blues. Through this initiative British people will be directly involved in setting in motion an unprecedented tourism campaign, by sharing experiences, tips and distinctive features of the archipelago over the Internet in one of the 4 labels comprising the Canary Islands Experience (Family Welcome, Wellness Delight, Volcanic Experience and Water Sports Experience). Indeed, the final candidates selected will be linked using the 4 labels representing the tourist themes on offer from the Canary Islands. In the end more than 4 people will join the trip, one per label, except for the person representing Family Welcome, in that case the person winning can go to the trip with his/her family.

During the casting session, to be held next week at Londons Spotlight Studios, over sixty young people will face a panel of experts, who will ask them to perform several fun tests to find out what they know about the archipelago, as well as discover more about their personality and assess their ability to talk about themselves.

Throughout the day there are sure to be very exciting moments as the British people demonstrate their passion for the Canaries by taking part in speed dating challenges and explaining in less than a minute why they should be picked for the mission. THE CASTINGS FOR WEVE SHARING OUR GOOD FORTUNE The casting requirements are as follows: - Born and/or resident in the UK - Aged over 18 - Available to travel between January 14 to 23 to the Canary Islands - Current passport (valid for over 6 months).

THE JURY An expert panel comprising existing ambassadors from the Canaries, will assess those attending the casting sessions and will be responsible for drawing up the shortlist. The panel will be in charge of putting the Brits to the test through a range of activities aimed at getting to know them better and gauging how they transmit their knowledge and passion for the Canary Islands in a original and engaging way: THE VOLUNTEERS MISSION Those selected at the casting sessions will be entrusted with a mission: to travel to the Canary Islands, all expenses paid, where they have the opportunity to beat the Winter Blues and act as volunteers for the UK. The winning candidates will have the chance to sample all of the delights of the Canary Islands, visiting all of the islands, sampling local food and culture and sharing the experiences and features of the Canary Islands Experience (Family Welcome, Wellness Delight, Volcanic Experience, and Water Sports Experience). THE CAMPAIGN IN EUROPE This first phase of the project will be backed by a major advertising campaign in conventional media (TV, Radio, Press, Magazines, Outdoor, Online) in 15 countries across Europe (Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland and Norway) and will last until mid December. The final candidates from the UK will be joined by ambassadors from Sweden, Germany and Denmark.
