Wasamedia Wins AVANI Hotels & Resorts

Wasamedia Pty Ltd

Sydney-based PR agency Wasamedia has been officially selected as the Australian representative of AVANI Hotels & Resorts.

Owned by international parent company Minor Hotel Group, AVANI is an upscale complementary sister brand to the luxury Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas. 'Avani' stems from the Sanskrit word for 'earth', which is reflected in the simple, contemporary style of the properties.

AVANI is set to be an exciting new venture for Wasamedia and a new addition to its expanding travel portfolio. The appointment comes after Wasamedia's highly successful opening year with Anantara in the Australian market, and expectations are high that the AVANI brand will prove to be equally as popular.

The brand already boasts existing hotels in Australian tourism hotspot Sri Lanka, with Malaysia to follow by the end of 2013. By expanding the AVANI portfolio Minor Hotel Group will be able to offer a variety of their products in Asia, allowing increased accessibility to its customer base. The group's bold expansion plans include new properties across Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East and Africa.

Marion Walsh-Hedouin, Minor Group's global director of PR & communications, said, "We are delighted to introduce AVANI, a contemporary, upscale brand to the Australian market. The unique locations such as Sri Lanka, Malaysia and beyond provide Australian guests with exciting new holiday destinations and experiences."

David Wasserman, managing director of Wasamedia, said, "Working on AVANI is yet another exciting challenge we look forward to taking on. The Minor group is aggressive with their expansion plans and providing their guests with fantastic product. We think the Aussie market will embrace AVANI as they have Oaks and Anantara."
