Boutique tour operator Crooked Compass has launched an exciting new tour to Borneo in conjunction with World Orangutan Day (19th August). Educating travellers about raising awareness for the endangered Orangutan with a focus on restoring the harmony between humans and orangutans, Crooked Compass has partnered with the award winning Matang Wildlife Centre.

The 14 day itinerary with departures in April and September 2017, will take travellers deep into the heart of Sarawak's untamed jungles searching for wild orangutans before having the opportunity to be hands on with husbandry, rehabilitation and the emotional experience of releasing of orangutans back into the wild. 

"With only 60,000 orangutans left in the wild, these are much needed conservation efforts which offer a deep life changing experience. This is a journey of discovery perfect for those with a wild and generous heart!," says Lisa Pagotto, Founder of Crooked Compass.

In conjunction with the conservation efforts of this program, travellers will also have the enriching experience of a rare interaction with the custodians of the orangutans, the descendants of the Iban head-hunters tribe. Travellers will have an extraordinary opportunity of cultural exchange as they help increase the Iban's understanding of conservation as well as providing a platform for them to teach Crooked Compass' travellers about their ancient ways of life.
