1. Takayama, Japan
Hot on the coattails of the country's exposure on MasterChef, Australian travellers are prioritising Japan on their holiday hit lists – with Takayama one of the emerging cities.Set high in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture, Takayama's traditional touches are attracting travellers of all styles.
Bernadette says “It's beautifully preserved old town is an immersion into days past, and the Higashiyama Walk might introduce you to some of the more wild locals, such as Japanese serow. “. See-wow!

2. Xian, China
Despite the Terracotta Warriors celebrating 30 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, Xian boasts treasures still only just beginning to reveal themselves to the world. The army of over 8000 individually crafted soldiers, horses and chariots is the tomb of China's first Emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
Bernadette says: “Within Xian, the old city wall is a fortress to be reckoned with, and the nightly market in the Islamic Quarter houses a tapestry of street food, as well as the famed Defachang dumpling house, reputedly the best in Shaanxi province.”
Tour: In Pursuit of Pandas. 9 days Early Bird price from $2,920 per person twin share, fully inclusive departing SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL & PER. Save $500 per person.
3. Sri Lanka's Hill Country

The cool mountain air hosts the traveller havens of Nuwara Eliya and Ella, and beyond – colonial style tea station bungalows. Filled with ghosts of British rule long past, while some crumble, seemingly reclaimed by the tea, others have been modernised and turned into destination-hotels, for gloriously relaxing getaway stays, and bellies filled with curries of 6 or more types.
Tour: Pearl of the Indian Ocean. 15 days Early Bird price from $5,380 per person twin share, fully inclusive departing SYD/MEL/BNE/ADL/PER. Save $500 per person.

But Japan's Cherry Blossoms are hard to beat for beauty and serenity! The 2018 Early Birds Specials are travellers best opportunity to save on all these beautiful locations and many many more.”
