Visit Florida Names Senior Vice President of Marketing and Director of Public Relations

VISIT FLORIDA, the state�s official tourism marketing corporation, has named Dr. Dale Brill as its senior vice president of Marketing and Vanessa Welter as director of Public Relations. �Dr. Brill comes to us with an incredible track record of success in advertising, public relations and e-commerce, which he�ll leverage as we apply greater discipline toward integrated marketing,� said Bud Nocera, VISIT FLORIDA president and CEO. �He also is well known and highly respected by the state�s tourism industry, which was a major consideration in our decision to bring him on board. �Ms. Welter joins us with an outstanding 19-year background in strategic tourism public relations, media relations and crisis communications,� Nocera continued. �Given the critical importance of these activities to successfully connecting potential visitors with Florida, we are delighted that she will be putting that considerable experience to work for us.� Dale Brill was most recently employed by General Motors Corporation in Detroit, where he held the positions of global business leader/dean of e-commerce. He previously was the director of the Interactive Communications Laboratory at Florida State University, preceded by an assistant professorship in the Communications Department of Boston University.

Brill has been a frequent presenter at numerous tourism industry functions, including the annual Florida Governor�s Conference on Tourism. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he majored in Communication with a primary focus in Advertising and a minor in Marketing. VISIT FLORIDA Names New Senior VP Marketing and Director of PR - 2222 Vanessa Welter comes to VISIT FLORIDA from the Greater Milwaukee Convention & Visitors Bureau where she held the position of director of Public Relations, Communications and Film Productions. Some of her notable accomplishments in that post included the international promotion of the area through the 2002 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and this past year�s celebration of Harley-Davidson�s 100th Anniversary. Welter�s previous experience included public relations positions in the advertising agency, non-profit corporation, healthcare and hospitality sectors and she holds APR accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and she also serves on that organization�s Travel & Tourism Board. The official voice for Florida tourism, VISIT FLORIDA was created by the Florida Legislature in 1996 as the operating company for the Florida Commission on Tourism, a private/public partnership. VISIT FLORIDA markets Florida tourism worldwide, directing advertising, sales, promotions, public relations and visitor services programs both domestically and internationally.
