Visit East Lothian

Inspired by over 40 miles of spectacular coastline set against a backdrop of gently rolling countryside and hills, the brand new Visit East Lothian website Visit East Lothian combines beautiful imagery and video with engaging content in a stunning showcase of all that East Lothian has to offer tourists.

Elaine Carmichael, Visit East Lothian said:

'Our website is the destination shop window for East Lothian and our main way to engage with potential visitors.  The new site combines a modern design, appealing content, inspirational video and amazing images giving visitors access to all the wonderful activities, products and opportunities East Lothian offers as a top holiday destination.'

Speaking about the website development Ian Paltiel, Founder and Commercial Director, Internet Creation said:

'Working in partnership with Visit East Lothian has been an outstanding achievement for our agency. We have thoroughly enjoyed introducing a modern design that captures the creative use of contemporary media forms, including videos, illustrations and iconography.  A key factor in our approach to the design was to create a clear story-telling user journey on the home page, supported by a stylish and fresh navigation menu that would enable audiences to interact easily with the content pages.  Included in the website development was a sophisticated business directory that promotes tourism and hospitality businesses within the region.  East Lothian is a magnificent region of Scotland. We hope that the website will be a tool that will allow Visit East Lothian to attract and engage with domestic and international visitors in a more engaging and responsive manner.'

Visitors to the new site will be able to access everything from how to travel to East Lothian, the whole range of accommodation on offer, attractions, activities, events, food & drink, towns & villages and discover the area's fascinating stories and heritage.  The easy to navigate search and itinerary planner means that planning a trip to East Lothian has never been easier.  Visitors can search for their favourite places to stay and things to do be that a family holiday, a romantic couple's getaway, thrilling outdoor adventure or relaxing with some me time.

The new website also has a members section where East Lothian tourism businesses can access information and opportunities for example training and development, sources of funding and support and insights into tourism locally, nationally and internationally.

Those working in the Travel Trade have a dedicated area where they can find themed and timed itineraries, facts sheets and contacts to build their knowledge of East Lothian and help them to include East Lothian in their product offerings.

During the pandemic and in response to recovery from Covid-19 the Visit East Lothian team have been working in support of the tourism industry which is an important contributor to the East Lothian economy.  The new website is just one of the products which aims to help the industry recover.  Other initiatives include an innovative App to help with visitor management and enable visitors to the popular coast to make the most of their visit, targeted promotions on social media, new printed materials, new video and photography, TV and radio advertising and Podcasts.
