The Vineyard Hotel & Spa, launches its new Environmental Conference and Greening initiative the key components include;-

� Fresh local seasonal fruit juice, organic rooibos tea and fair�trade filter coffee is provided.

� All menus include local organic seasonal fruit and vegetables, free range chicken and meats when available.

� We have joined the SASSI South African Seafood initiative SASSI Aware campaign and we strive to use green status fish when possible.

� An environmental policy for the hotel and conference centre is implemented and displayed in the foyer.

� Filtered water and ice provided in carafes.

� All paper used is 100% recyclable.

� Pencils are forestry stewardship Accredited coming from sustainable forests.

� When practical natural light and ventilation will be used rather than electrical lights and air-conditioning.

� A multi- bin system is provided in the venue to encourage guests in waste separation at source.

� Back of house we have a tri- bin separation system in place and more than 50% of our waste is sent for recycling.

� Green Energy can be provided on request through the purchase of tradable and renewable energy certificates (TRECS) www.greenenergy.com

� Compact fluorescent energy saving lighting is installed in the foyers effecting a 78% energy saving.

� Water saving initiatives, including waterless urinals, dual flush toilets, and aerated taps have been installed in the rest rooms.

� Conference organizers are encouraged to participate in the greening initiative by using on-line registration, locally manufactured conference bags, car sharing and limiting waste.
