As the US government shutdown enters its third week, Destination DC, the organisation which successfully markets Washington, DC as a premier global convention, tourism and special events destination, has responded to the shutdown by posting a video aimed at all travellers to the city through their social media channels. The video seeks to promote the city's hospitality & tourism community's unified message that #DCisOpen.

The video includes appearances from the city’s key tourism partners including the Spy Museum, Bike and Roll, Ben’s Chili Bowl, The Newseum, Tudor Place Historic House and Gardens, and more.
In addition, Destination DC has also established a Shutdown Concierge line, a free service operated by local experts who will tailor individual and group tour itineraries for travel in the nation’s capital. The phone number for calling the free concierge line from DC is 855-332-7767.
