VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA - From September 12 to 16, 2012, the Victoria International Chalk Festival will debut as the newest, free festival in B.C.'s capital city and will continue annually into 2013 and beyond.
The Victoria International Chalk Festival will feature an array of local and international chalk artists, including renowned international 3D chalk artist Tracy Lee Stum as she begins a five-day chalk art creation in downtown Victoria. Once complete, the piece will be up to 26 ft (8 m) across and will appear in complete 3D.
Following this is a two-day chalk art exposition where artists will create works on Victoria's historic Government Street, including some pieces in tribute to the city's 150th anniversary being celebrated this year. Government Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the festival, creating a great pedestrian walkway and atmosphere.
The festival will also feature a "Kids Chalkers" area for little ones looking to try their hand at some chalk creations. Free of charge, this eye-catching, family-friendly festival is fun for all ages.
