Via Rail Announces New Upgrades on Most Breathtaking Route

Via Rail Canada

The Skeena will launch Touring Class Accommodations beginning 2014

Passengers can take an unforgettable journey onboard VIA's west coast treasure, the Skeena which travels between Jasper National Park in Alberta, to Prince Rupert on the Pacific Coast of British Columbia. Starting summer 2014, passengers on the route will be able to experience an enhanced VIA experience with additional features including the Panorama Car and superior meal services.

The train, which departs three days a week in both directions, follows a spectacular route filled with waterfalls, rivers, totem poles and, to top it off, Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The Jasper – Prince Rupert corridor is a wonderful way to discover  Northern British Columbia's scenery, native culture, wildlife and other attractions.

The Touring class on the route in 2014 will include:

  • Two day trip from Jasper to Prince Rupert with a stop at Prince George (hotel not included in fare). Panorama car with extra-large dome windows for excellent mountain viewing (71 reclining seats)
  • At seat service of all meals:  Hot and cold selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Wine at lunch and dinner
  • Bar service and souvenir sales
  • Access to the Park car and more dome seating

The new Touring class service will be offered on specific dates only starting in June.

Passengers who are looking to boost their journey can also take advantage of  BC Ferries, one of the largest ferry operators in the world  connecting Prince Rupert to Vancouver Island.
