Throughout July, Velassaru presents a selection of gastronomic fare for the discerning palates; on the 1st, guests can savour a tasting menu of 5 enticing courses, each exquisitely balanced with fine wines in the Latin American Wine Degustation. From the 16th to the 18th Fen Bar serves Champagne paired with an array of strawberry sweets and desserts, for the ultimate indulgence.

Guests can Celebrate the true spirit of the Maldives and join Velassaru in the country's Independence Day on July 26th. Feast on the vibrant flavours of traditional Maldivian food with a selection of local dishes and flavoursome BBQ. Dance to the spirit of the Maldives with traditional Bodu Beru dance performing the nation's unique music and dance.

From the 5th – 7th August,  Velassaru will offer you the chance to enjoy an evening soiree and delight in the exotic tang of Spain and the fresh flavour of Japan, with Sparkling Sangria and Sushi Nights, in Fen Bar.  For an evening of relaxed music and chilled-out ambiance, set in the lush garden, the Moonlight Vibes party is the ideal opportunity for guests to enjoy a Maldivian sunset while sipping fresh, tropical cocktails and soaking up the tranquil and chic vibe.

During September 2016 Velassaru will be welcoming husband and wife DJ team DJ Raysoo and DJ Nuthiya to the island for live music events; offering chilled vibes, funky beats and even the opportunity to learn the skills of DJ from these world-class artists.

Combine afternoons of sun-bathing with relaxed tunes from DJ Nuthiya, at the Afternoon Chillout on the 11th and 15th of September. An event for the whole family, set on the pearl-dust main beach, guests can bask in the Maldivian sunshine of this tropical paradise, relax in the shade of leaning palm trees  or take a dip in the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, with oversized bean bags and sun loungers scattered along the beach and drinks and snacks served from the beachside Fen Bar, this is a true celebration of summer.  

For those keen to take to the turntables themselves, DJ Raysoo will be teaching an afternoon DJ master class on the 12th and 14th September. While on the 16th guests are invited to the Moonlight Vibes beachfront party, held at the water's edge, under the light of the moon, featuring the musical stylings of DJ Nuthiya and DJ Raysoo. Enjoy full moon inspired cocktails under the stars, with your loved one and soak up the romantic atmosphere with relaxed tunes and candle-light reflected in the sea.

An enticing regular fixture on the 2016 Events Calendar is the Flavour of Maldives event, every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. The island's guests can sample the unique tastes of the Maldives and revel in colourful moments by the water's edge and watch timeless Maldivian sunsets on the elegant dining pavilion of Sand restaurant. Fen Bar hosts live music in the evening from 7:30 pm, 6 days of the week, ranging from local acoustic acts to DJs and bands.
