It's that time of the year again; embrace the magic of the festive season in the Maldives for a spectacular Christmas and greet the New Year and the new decade in style.

Velassaru invites guests to celebrate a sparkling festive season through a line-up of scrumptious menus, live music performances and events for all guests, from the 20th December 2019 through to the 6th January 2020.

Start the day with a Complimentary Morning Cruise, the sun on your face and the wind in your hair as you relax on an hour-long cruise within the Atoll on an authentic dhoni. Wind down for the evening with Complimentary Sunset Group Yoga on the shoreline.

With Live Music, DJ nights and Beachfront movies each night, along with a range of daily kids' activities including face painting, cooking classes and marine biology talks, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

On Christmas Eve, families can greet Santa as he arrives at the Garden in Fen Bar and relish an abundance of seasonal and local delicacies at the Christmas Gala Dinner. On the 25th December,

On the 26th December, guests can experience 'Vibes of Summer'; a day of sun, sea, sand and chillout music at Fen Garden, including an afternoon BBQ lunch buffet and refreshing cocktails.

Guests can also experience the 'Flavours of Maldives, on the 28th December at Sand, our beachfront signature restaurant, with a typical Maldivian BBQ featuring local specialities and tastes.

To welcome in the new decade, on the 31st December, guests will experience a special feast featuring interactive food stations, raw bar, chocolate haven and much more at the Gala Dinner; followed by a New Year's Eve Celebration on the beach featuring a band, a DJ and other entertainers, until the early hours!

The next day, on the 1st January 2020, a late brunch, followed by an afternoon of relaxing tunes, fresh drinks and delectable BBQ food will round out the perfect start to a new year.

Faarufushi will mark the celebrations with a specially designed program commencing on the 22nd December 2019, running through to the 4th January 2020. Exciting events are planned throughout, including yoga and meditation, live music performances, delicious feasts and an array of fun activities for kids.

Kicking off the program is an Afternoon Tea, and complimentary 10-minute massage at the divine Nika Spa. Sunrise Yoga on the 23rd December is followed by an afternoon of cookie baking and decorating for the kids, and in the evening, join the island team as they tun on the Christmas lights.

On the 24th December, gusts can choose from the Christmas Eve Gala Buffet at Iru including traditional seasonal favourites, premium cuts, fresh catches from the sea and plenty of sweet treats, or the opulent 5 Course Dinner at Eclipse.

Santa will arrive on the 25th, at Athiri, with an overflowing bag of special gifts for those who have been especially good this year; followed in the evening by a Christmas Themed Dinner Buffet or a four-course Turkey gastronomic experience at Eclipse.

On Boxing Day, a Spa Workshop at Nika Spa will teach fundamental massage techniques designed to reduce stress, ease aches and pains. While on the 27th December, a Movie night on the beach, under the stars tops off another perfect day in paradise.

Ring in the 2020 with a New Years Eve Gala Dinner, accompanied by Live Band Entertainment at Iru, or indulge in Pre-dinner drinks at Boli followed by a five-course gastronomic experience at Eclipse designed especially for this festive occasion. Countdown to midnight and welcome the first hour of 2020 beginning with a vibrant display of colours and a live band at Sangu, main pool.

Start the new decade with Complimentary Detox Yoga and relieve the excess of the holidays, detoxing and cleansing your body by the seaside. On the 2nd January 2020, take a sip of your favourite cocktail while enjoying the picturesque Maldivian sunset with the Management Team of Faarufushi at Sangu.

Dhigali's Festive Events program is full of treats for adults and children alike, from the 20th December 2019 to the 6th January 2020.

On the 20th December guests can join our team as they light up the Christmas Tree and lights around the resort, followed by Christmas Carola, Christmas Pudding, mulled wine, hot chocolate, cocktails and canapes.

The Blu! Tropical Pool Party on the 23rd at the East Bar will be full of games, food and cocktails sound tracked by a Live DJ. In the evening Wine connoisseurs can visit the Christmas Wine Market at East Bar Pavilion, where they can enjoy holiday discounts, exclusive wine flights, tastings with our resort sommelier, or even try a blind tasting.

Celebrate Christmas Eve with a 'Wonderland by the Sea' Gala Dinner at Capers Restaurant, with live cooking stations, an incredible selection of seafood and meats along with a delectable array of heavenly desserts. For a more intimate experience, guests can choose to experience a six course menu, accompanied by a live saxophonist and stunning ocean views at Faru Restaurant.

On Christmas Day each child on the island will be able to meet Santa and receive a very special gift, followed by a lunch buffet at Capers includes festive treats and local flavours along with live musical entertainment, cocktails and bubbly.

For a taste of traditional Maldivian culture the Bodu Beru Night on the 27th December will allow guests to experience the songs and dances introduced to the Maldives by sails across the Indian Ocean back in the 11th Century A.D.

Guests who love to dance can enjoy a silent disco at Haali Beach Bar on the 28th December, with wireless headphones allowing everyone to choose their favourite soundtrack for an all-night party!

Experience an unforgettable New Years Eve at Faarufushi with the Gala Dinner at Capers, including an elegant selection of dishes, live cooking stations, fresh oysters and a divine Champagne Bar. Then join us at the East Beach to bring in 2020 to an end with live music and bubbles.

On the 1st January 2020, enjoy a festive lunch buffet full of luxurious and lavish dishes to suit every taste, accompanied by live music. The festivities will continue on the 6th January, with our 'Fire & Ice' Orthodox Christmas celebration on the beach, with BBQ Buffet, live music and Vodka Bar.

For guests of Universal Resorts Maldives, their white Christmas will be more white sand than chilly weather and feature more palm trees than Christmas trees, but it looks to be a simply magical holiday season!
