Originating in the central western Mexican state of Jalisco, tequila is Mexico's signature spirit, and a favourite tipple for guests at Mexico's luxury all-inclusive hotel brand Velas Resorts. There are various ways to celebrate National Tequila Day with Velas Resorts thanks to a host of Tequila related drinks and activities.

As well as enjoying premium brand tequila from the in-suite mini bars and selection of ocean-view and poolside bars across the five resorts, guests at Velas Resorts can partake in tequila tasting workshops and can stay refreshed with one of five resort-specific margarita's such as the Cucumber & Habanero Chili Margarita available at Velas Vallarta.

Guests at Velas Resorts' newest property- Grand Velas Los Cabos can enjoy tequila and civet-coffee salsa on a gold-infused taco which, as the world's most expensive taco, is available for $25K USD. For a similarly indulgent accompaniment to the iconic dish, Grand Velas Los Cabos' signature tequila-based cocktail is the Smoky Guajillo Rita; made using chappuline salt; grasshoppers roasted with chili, salt and lime.

At a charity auction hosted by Grand Velas Los Cabos earlier this year, a shot of Tequila Ley .925 from a handmade diamante bottle, along with one of the aforementioned tacos, generated $27,960 for the Los Cabos Children's Foundation. The handmade tequila bottle, "Ley Diamante," contained 3.725 kilos of .925 pure platinum and 4100 diamonds for an incredible total of 328.59 carats. From design to completion, the bottle took ten months to make.

Guests at the adults only Casa Velas can take part in evening tequila tasting classes every Thursday, while guests at Grand Velas Riviera Maya can enjoy their tequila from Strawberry Margarita Gummy Shots. A new cocktail libation at the AAA Five Diamond resort, the shot glass is made of strawberry margarita gummy flavour and is delivered to poolside guests by staff from the resort's Ambassador bar.
