VEDA Pioneers Health-Forward Cocktails
Classic Cocktails Get a Wellness-Makeover Alongside a 'New School' List of Fresh Concoctions
(31 July 2019, Hong Kong)
VEDA, Hong Kong's leading-edge vegetarian restaurant and bar introduces the trendiest way to stay healthy, with its innovative new superfood and wellness-driven cocktails.
The exotic and health-forward array of refreshments showcase a kaleidoscopic menu of color all the while putting a clever, clean twist on the classics. The 'Old School' selection features drinks like Clean Cosmo (HK$138) – made with gluten-free artisanal quinoa-vodka – which owes its smooth mouth-feel and subtle sweetness to the mother grain. Tinted with butterfly pea petals, the gorgeously purple Ink Gimlet (HK$168) is shaken with Ink Gin, a premium-dry botanical variety tendering this fabulously fragrant and floral gin and tonic make-over.
A playful riff on the Kir Royale, the Acai Royal (HK$158), is a drink fit for any yoga goddess post practice, incorporating the superfood of the moment, acai, known for its skin detoxifying benefits, with effervescent Jansz Cuvee.
'New School' stars include the Bloody Parmesan (HK$158), constructed with vino-infused Bloody Shiraz gin. Vitamin C-rich citrus juice and fresh raspberries, as well as organic cacao cordial is topped with 12-month aged parmesan – an ideal hangover preventative.
Rich in essential vitamins and minerals, the Carrot Martini (HK$128) integrates a lemongrass and carrot infused vodka with carrot syrup, while the Celeryta (HK$138), an epic spin on a Margarita, includes fresh celery juice shaken with basil and lime, and sweetened with organic agave nectar, keeping the calories minimal.
A hipster's dream, the Kombucha Spritz (HK$128) is deliciously loaded with pro-biotics and is the perfect accompaniment to an evening nibble such as the Possible Burger (HK$128), which offers two well-spiced, lush, veggie-loaded sliders. Also available are moreish Quinoa Arancini (HK$88) golden quinoa-crisped balls of mozzarella and corn, laced with turmeric for an extra immunity boost and topped with a dollop of zingy siracha mayo.
Those looking to seriously hydrate can take advantage of VEDA's impressive Social Hour: buy 1 get 1 for selected drinks from 3 to 7:30pm daily.

About VEDA
VEDA is Hong Kong's first vegetarian hotel restaurant. Opened in 2019, the ground-breaking all-day dining concept promises to serve up feel-good vegetarian food by the renowned Australian Chef Hetty McKinnon of Arthur Street Kitchen fame.
VEDA's exceptional food offering is supported by a specialty all-Australian drinks menu featuring coffee from Porter Street Roast by Pablo & Rusty's and wines by the glass and bottle. Seven classic cocktails, one for every day of the week, will be crafted using artisanal spirits.
About Hetty McKinnon
Hetty McKinnon is an Australian cook and food writer with a passion for vegetables.
In 2011, Hetty established Arthur Street Kitchen, a community kitchen with a simple concept: local food for local people. From her inner-city terrace kitchen in Surry Hills, Sydney, Hetty dreamed up and cooked flavor-packed, hearty, seasonal salads, which she delivered to locals on her bike.
In 2015, Hetty - with her family and Arthur Street Kitchen in tow - relocated to the rather larger neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. Here, she has continued to build meaningful relationships via her creative pop-up events, workshops, lunches and dinners. She is also the co-owner of Brooklyn kitchen studio Neighborhood Studio and is the Publisher and Editor of multicultural food journal Peddler (www.peddlerjournal.com). Hetty also writes a regular vegetarian food column called The Community Kitchen on The Guardian.
