Van Cleve Photography Workshop

Buffalo Bill Historical Center

The Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the UXU Ranch have teamed up to offer a weeklong photography workshop with renowned western photographer Barbara Van Cleve, June 13 -19. Participants spend six nights and seven days at the UXU guest ranch located along the Shoshone River just outside of Yellowstone National Park.

Barbara Van Cleve says, "The focus of the workshop is encouraging participants to 'see' in new ways and to broaden their photographic 'vision'." Workshop days are spent observing and photographing the daily ranch horse roundup, wild horses, landscape, and rodeo action. One full day is spent in Yellowstone photographing the wildlife and natural features. Another day is dedicated to capturing images of early petroglyphs as well as the quiet drama of fly-fishing.

The course is taught in color transparency and photo critique sessions are available every evening. Digital photographers are welcome.

Van Cleve is a Montana native and has been a professional photographer since 1985. She is an inductee to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and has been honored with numerous awards as an artist. Her work is in the permanent collections of institutions all across the globe. Her images have been published in a number of books and broadcast in many video specials.

Van Cleve has done forty-two solo exhibitions in less than twenty years. Her work is showcased in a special exhibition titled "Hard Twist" at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center June 12 through August 8. Workshop cost includes luxury cabin accommodations, gourmet meals, guides and instruction, transportation, gratuities, service fees, entrance and admission fees and taxes. Cost is $1675 based on double occupancy. A non-workshop fee is available for those staying with an enrolled partner. Film and daily processing are provided for an additional fee.
