With summer officially over and British autumn weather on the horizon, Travel Republic has looked into how holidaymakers can escape the daily grind, and make the most of their remaining annual leave for one last holiday in 2016.

After a long week at work, travelling on a Friday can be a less favoured option, but Brits could risk losing half a day or more travelling at the weekend. With just two days annual leave and travelling Friday evening, holidaymakers can be enjoying 5 days in Tenerife with high temperatures of 25°C for this time of year.
Have a non-traditional Christmas
For just 3 days annual leave, Brits dreaming of something other than a white Christmas can be enjoying a 10 day long haul break. Cape Town recently topped the Post Office Travel Money report** for the most affordable long haul destination, and with only two hours time difference, the South African capital is a perfect destination to see in the New Year.
Mix and match your flights
To maximise the amount of time away, a Brit's holiday must work around their work schedule. Choosing flights that arrive either late in the evening or very early in the morning can save taking a day's annual leave, as opposed to a midday flight. But due to flight schedules, this could mean flying with two different airlines, for one holiday.
