18th Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon Mount Kinabalu, Sabah October 2-3, 2004

This internationally recognized racing event attracts runners from all over the world eager to prove their tenacity and endurance in what is considered the world�s toughest mountain race. Cameron Equator Race Cameron Highlands, Pahang October 11-16, 2004

The �World�s Wildest Race� is back with a vengeance. Beginning in a tiny highland town in the Cameron Highlands, this 224km muscle-aching event traverses rainforest, rapids, rivers and mountains.

Top teams from around the world race against each other and time over six grueling days. Come join world-class athletes as they mountain bike, raft, kayak and trek through dense tropical terrain in the race to complete a truly challenging man-against-nature event!

Bazaar Ramadhan Throughout Malaysia From October 17( (Date subject to change)

A daily event to check out during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan in the unusual abundance and variety of food and street vendors that appear in Kuala Lumpur and elsewhere. �Hard-to-get� Malay dishes abound, so look out for the many locations that usually starts around 3 or 4pm.

Sample home-cooked or freshly prepared and tasty delicacies at very affordable prices.

Deepavali Throughout Malaysia November 11, 2004

�Open houses� and traditional delicacies mark the �Festival of Lights�. For the Hindus, Deepavali signifies the triumph of good over evil. Celebrated during the seventh month of the Hindu calendar, a traditional oil bath precedes the festivities. The celebration includes visit to temples and prayers at household altars. Hindu homes are adored with lights or oil lamps to signify the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon, Ravana.

The Malaysian Open House for this festival will be held on November 27 in Ipoh, Perak.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri Throughout Malaysia November 14* (Date subject to change)

The end of the fasting month of Ramadhan is celebrated by Muslims with special prayers in mosque throughout the country. Houses are spring-cleaned and new clothes and special decorations are usually put up. Reunions, traditional delicacies and �open houses� welcome all. His Majesty, the King of Malaysia, and Muslim Government leaders also hold �open houses� for the public at their official residence to which all are welcome. Go early if you want to beat the queue.
