Bundaberg - Southern Great Barrier Reef

Less than one week to go until Brisbanites, invited media personnel, government dignitaries will sit down to a feast of only quintessential Bundaberg region produce at Moda Restaurant on Monday 4th July.

Winterfeast 2016 is the brain child of, arguably, Queensland's most passionate culinary industry, a close knit farming community and a collaboration between local council and the regional tourism board. On Monday 4th July at Moda Restaurant, owner and chef of Indulge Café & Bistro Amanda Hinds and Australian Pork star Javier Codina of Moda Restaurant will present Bundaberg on a Plate, a four course dinner that will set a new platform for the most delectable dishes from a regions own produce.

While there are other regions around Australia that embody a 'farm gate to plate ethos', the Bundaberg region has a very special connection between their farmers and restaurants, which sets the region apart from other areas. Indulge Café's motto for their food is, 'We know where it came from and how it was made'; the quote reinforces how the Bundaberg region perceives their close knit connection with the farmers that provide them with only the highest quality ingredients. The same ingredients that often end up at high-end produce markets around Australia, such as; Rocklea markets in Brisbane, Sydney Markets or Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne, will be present on a plate at all Winterfeast events.

With an overwhelming response from businesses to be Winterfeast event partners, to tickets selling out for events that hadn't even be launched yet, projections for 2017 look extremely healthy for the future of the newest culinary tourism product for Bundaberg region. General Manager of Bundaberg North Burnett Tourism, Katherine Mergard shared her thoughts on the future of Winterfeast for the region. “We cannot wait for what Winterfeast will be bring to the region for 2017, from driving visitation to the region in the cooler months, embodying community spirit and celebrating the union between our culinary hero's and farmers”.

Events in the Bundaberg region kick off with the Fairymead Blues Societe by Indulge at Fairymead House and in the North Burnett they will be celebrating with regional wine at Gayndah Wine & Cheese Night at the Gayndah Art Gallery.

While most events are selling fast, there are still tickets available for foodies, families and the visitor to enjoy a taste of Bundaberg. Visit www.winterfeast.com.au for ticket sales and more information on Winterfeast.
