A representative from the Algarve Tourism Board will be meeting with key members of the media at IMM London 2019 to showcase the lesser known aspects of the region. This includes its beautiful landscapes and nature, authentic hidden gems, cultural hotspots, many sports facilities and outstanding gastronomy. Being located only two and a half hours away from the UK, the Algarve is keen to make itself known as the ideal destination for those looking for an activity-packed holiday.
Particular emphasis will be made on sports lovers this year following the launch in 2018 of a brand new website entirely dedicated to walking and cycling holidays in the Algarve. The website, which will be showcased to the media, allows visitors to discover handy preparation tips on what to pack, itinerary planning tools, brochures and maps available to download, plus accommodation suggestions and guided tours with recommended partner links. Also to be presented are the region's many renowned golf courses (more information on Golf in the Algarve here) and prime surfing spots.
The Algarve is also keen to introduce itself as an outstanding foodie destination for 2019, and emphasis will be made on the wide range of food experiences across the region. From Michelin-starred high-end restaurants to traditional fishermen's outlets on the beach, members of media will be introduced to the many options and tasty dishes on offer that can cater to all kinds of taste and budget.
Culture will also be a key theme for 2019, with much of the focus on the many celebrations and festivals held throughout the year. Programmes such as the 365 Algarve will be introduced to the media with particular interest in the rural authenticity of the countryside -away from the crowded beaches. Lastly, the rich arts and crafts of the region such as the Algarve pottery will also be showcased.
