The British Columbia resort of Whistler, home to the 2010 Winter Olympics, has been named Best Ski Resort in the World by readers of luxury travel magazine, Ultratravel.

The award was announced at the ULTRAs dinner held at The Dorchester, London, yesterday (May 19 2014).

"It is a great achievement for Whistler that - with all the wonderful ski resorts in the world to choose from - Ultratravel readers have voted Whistler as the best,” said Nick Perry, Chairman, Ultratravel Unlimited.

“We are thrilled that Whistler has been recognised by readers of Ultratravel magazine as the best ski resort in the world,” said Louise Petter, Destination British Columbia's Manager – UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

“British Columbia has amazing ski resorts for all levels, from beginners and families to high-adrenalin experienced and off-piste skiers.  It was the birthplace of heli-skiing and Whistler was Host Mountain Resort of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.”
