UK's Dragon Trip launches new tour of North Korea

With the first trip departing 8th October, The Dragon Trip has just added a brand new tour of North Korea to their existing portfolio of China adventures.  Travelers to the hermit kingdom can now book directly through the firm's website.

“North Korea remains one of the world's true mysteries”, according to the Dragon Trip founder, Ramsay Kerr, and that “walking streets still untouched by globalization is a truly fascinating experience.”

In line with company's strengths as an adventure travel operator in communist countries, the new tour includes the sights and sounds of Pyongyang, hiking through the countryside, ten-pin bowling, a shooting range, funfairs and the infamous war museum.  Guests will also have the chance to stock up on propaganda posters, local newspapers, postcards and books – some of the most unusual souvenirs in the world.

  • DEVOTION: Witness first-hand the locals' reverence for their leaders, as they pay their respects to the dominating, 27-metre-high statue of Kim Il Sung – the founder of the DPRK.
  • FESTIVALS: Our departure dates coincide with various national festivals so that our travelers can attend special events, celebrations and mass dancing.
  • HIGHEST TOWER: Ascend the Juche Tower - the highest building in North Korea – and get aerial views of the whole city.
  • HIKING: This area of Manpok Valley shows a different side to a nation not usually associated with tranquility.  Check out the scenery, the Buddhist Pohyon Temple as well as the International Friendship Exhibition, filled with gifts to the great leaders.
  • HISTORY: Consider the North Koreans' own view of history with a striking display of national power about the War, including going aboard the USS Pueblo, an American intelligence ship captured in 1968.
  • CULTURE:  Sample Korean cuisine with meals at a range of restaurants, including BBQ and entertainment from singing waitresses. Learn about ordinary life, folklore, and the N. Korean world-view from your local guides.

PRICE: €1600 per person for the 6 day trip, all-inclusive.  Includes round trip airfare from Beijing. Upgrades to private rooms are available on request. Departure dates in October 2015 and throughout 2016.
