As the dust settles and the world very slowly and tentatively starts to raise her beautiful head from covid lockdown many of us will recognise that whilst our horizons have shrunk our imaginations and aspirations most definitely have not. Enforced time to revaluate what is most important has given a renewed respect and appreciation for friends, family, health, and nature and a desire to reconnect with what we have missed most dearly. Some crave quality time with friends and loved ones whilst others need space and freedom to roam. Some seek outdoor adventure and others tranquillity and restoration. Most are united by a desire to exit this lockdown with a greater sense of community and a wish to spend our time and money more wisely to benefit the greater good as well as ourselves.
Here at Makanyi, whilst not chasing baboons off your daybeds and Vervet monkeys from the plunge pools, we have also been using this enforced quiet time to examine how we can make your next stay with us truly count. To make it a trip to lift the spirits and make your soul sing, a trip to talk about for years to come not only for the joy it gave you and your loved ones but also for the significant contribution it made to supporting our incredible travel industry and helping to save South Africa's most endangered species who have been left more at risk than ever.
Whether it's a multi-generational family gathering, a belated celebration with friends or simply the need to be alone in pure unadulterated nature at its most verdant - an exclusive use booking at Makanyi is perhaps the most magical way to create personalised memories that last a lifetime whilst simultaneously giving back to our local community through employment and to saving wildlife and fighting poaching through conservation levies.
Fusing exclusivity, authenticity, and luxury the team at Makanyi are excited to share the ultimate in one-of-a-kind safari that really can take your experience to the next level. With a whole house takeover, of up to 16 guests across Makanyi's 7 luxury suites and private villa, guests can choose to tailor their time by selecting bespoke activity options to suit diverse passions across, wildlife & conservation, photography, art, health & wellbeing, local gastronomy and tutored stargazing. These are the kind of experiences that usually money just can't buy and will run in addition to the already magical safari experiences of twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, bush picnics, gym, pool, sundeck, and spa use.
Furthermore, we don't want you to miss a minute of this amazing trip so, for our Exclusive Bookings only, we are going to include complimentary full use of our onsite photographer, Anja, who will capture all the best moments of your stay and as a very special finale will help you to choose your top 4 prints to take home as full-size canvases and a beautifully bound book of all your best bits which will no doubt provide glorious memories and more than a little jealousy for years to come.
Makanyi looks forward to offering any and all of the above in a bespoke exclusive use package for you and your guests and so much more besides and all in the relaxed, attentive and honest manner that has become their signature. If you're a late riser, a conservation addict or you like to take your meditation with G&T in hand that's all fine by the team who pride themselves on the individual care and attention to detail that has won them a Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Award every year since launch. This is going to be so much more than a holiday…. this will be the win-win experience of a lifetime.

About Makanyi Private Game Lodge
Makanyi is located in the southern sector of the South African Timbavati, one of the most beautiful and pristine reserves in South Africa. Here guests enjoy a truly vast game viewing area being directly adjacent and open to the 2.4 million hectares of the Kruger National Park. The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is not only home to an abundant variety of wildlife and birdlife but also to the famous “Big Five” and the extremely rare white lion. The number of lodges within the Timbavati remains very few to keep the level of game drive vehicles exceptionally low and the number of visitors to a minimum, thus sustaining the quality and amount of game in the park. The wilderness here is wild and unspoiled and it's this authenticity that gives it the edge over more commercial bush experiences.
Protected by an imposing grove of marula trees, Makanyi's prime safari setting offers sweeping views over a magnificent dam that delights with a Lion King-like cast of creatures. At the heart of this, the architecture of Makanyi Lodge is clean and contemporary, cleverly blending seamlessly into its bush surroundings. There are a total of 7 luxury open-plan suites, of approximately 140m2 each making them some of the largest rooms to be found in the bush and a 2-bedroomed private villa with its own vast outdoor deck, Boma and private swimming pool.
