We have space for UK media on a trip to Turkey looking at three TUI Care Foundation projects.
We'll visit our TUI Colourful Cultures project supporting supporting local female weavers with education and marketing training to revive the traditional weaving method 'Dastar'. The project supports the participants and their families, and therefore also the local communities.
We'll also visit a TUI Junior Academy where we will provide training for teachers and teach school children how to become ECO-Champions and learn more about nature conservation. As part of the project, the children experience nature conservation first hand through excursions and with beach clean ups.
We will also visit a TUI Sea the Change Turkey project. It focuses on the protection of monk seals, which are on the IUCN Red List of endangered species as critically endangered. It is estimated that around 600-700 Mediterranean monk seals exist worldwide, with around 100 of them located along the coasts of Turkey. As part of the project, we are monitoring the number of seals, researching the threats to their ecosystem and taking appropriate measures to improve their living conditions. We also raise awareness about seal conservation for the local population, including local fishermen, school classes and the surrounding tourism infrastructure.
Open to UK media with firm commissions.
