We have spaces available on a press trip to Sri Lanka next month visiting a project initiated by TUI Wildlife Sri Lanka showcasing the use of nature-based solutions to enable harmonious living between the human and elephant populations.

Over 70% of the elephant population in Sri Lanka lives outside protected areas and, in 44% of the country, elephants and humans share the land. Elephants that share habitat with people can cause damage to crops and the local infrastructure, which results in humans and elephants not always living harmoniously side by side. To help solve this issue the TUI Care Foundation has started TUI Wildlife Sri Lanka and this initiative looks at solar-powered solutions for human- elephant conflict in the village of Bendiwewa in the Habarana region. The trip will also visit the TUI Academy Sri Lanka, The TUI Academy plays a vital role in empowering vulnerable young people by offering education and hands-on training for a career in the tourism industry. The Academy places a strong emphasis on supporting young women in a caring and supportive environment, enabling them to embark on their professional journeys and boost the students' self-assurance and independence.
