Hotel search website trivago.ie have released the results of their annual trivago Awards, using over 175 million aggregated hotel reviews and semantic analysis to determine the best-rated hotels in Ireland. This year the top ten hotels have been awarded across eight different categories: 3-star, 4-star, 5-star, B&Bs, Value for Money, Breakfast, Guest Service and Guest Rooms.
By analysing reviews aggregated from different sources across the web, trivago aims to award hotels on a basis which is accurate, comprehensive and impartial. Johannes Thomas, Managing Director at trivago, comments “We aggregate and analyse more than 175 million hotel reviews from websites all over the world. This gives us strong insights into what hotels are particularly good at. Our trivago awards recognise those hoteliers who deliver an exceptional experience to their guests, and we are proud and delighted to award those achievements.”

About the data
The data for the B&B, 3-star, 4-star and 5-star categories is taken from the trivago Rating Index (tRI), which aggregates over 175 million hotel reviews globally. An algorithm is used to produce a 100-point index score, which is updated daily to produce clear, transparent and unbiased results. The data for the Best Value, Breakfast, Service and Guest Room categories was taken from a semantic analysis, in which guests' online reviews were analysed to identify which hotels scored highest in these categories. For the trivago Awards, hotels with sufficient availability and at least 20 reviews were considered.
