12 September 2023 – Tres Monos in Buenos Aires has been announced as the winner of Michter's Art of Hospitality Award as part of The World's 50 Best Bars 2023. The winner of this award is selected by The World's 50 Best Bars Academy, which is made up of more than 650 anonymous industry experts, who are asked to name the bar where they received the single-best hospitality experience during the voting period.
Created to recognise the importance of hospitality in the bar experience, the Michter's Art of Hospitality Award is the first of two special awards that will be announced in the run-up to the unveiling of the list of The World's 50 Best Bars 2023, sponsored by Perrier. The live ceremony will take place on Tuesday 17 October in Singapore – marking the first time the illustrious event has been held outside of Europe – where the ceremony will once again unite the global bar community in recognition of the best drinking destinations across the globe.

Taking inspiration from the Japanese primate proverb, Tres Monos stands as a compact neighbourhood bar in the vibrant Palermo Soho barrio of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Celebrated for its low-fi neon aesthetic, a soundtrack straight from the '90s and a concise menu of democratic signatures that riff on the classics, Tres Monos founders Sebastián Atienza and Charly Aguinsky apply their playful punk ethos to every element of the relaxed offering. The charismatic team extends its warm porteño hospitality to each guest that enters the vibrant interior, under the neon pink auspices of a mischievously raised middle finger.
The bar's passionate commitment to its community has resulted not only in deep ties to local producers, showcasing the diversity of native Argentinian ingredients, but in a thriving bartender training programme in the under-served Mugica district of the capital.

How the voting works
The list is compiled by votes from The World's 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises more than 650 drinks experts with gender balance, including renowned bartenders and consultants, drinks writers and cocktail specialists from around the world. The Academy of voters is spread across 28 global geographic regions, each headed by an Academy Chair who selects their region's voters, with the distribution of voters designed to reflect the relative development and sophistication of the drinks sector, and the concentration of quality bars, in each region. Each voter casts seven votes based on their best bar experiences of the previous 18 months. Voters are required to remain anonymous and voting is confidential, secure and independently adjudicated by Deloitte.
