The new countryside escape, Aikbank Farmhouse on the edge of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, is offering dads the chance to embrace their inner country gent this Fathers Day weekend – 14th-16th June.

The 18th century farmhouse situated at the foot of the Farleton fells has teamed up with neighbouring business Crabtree Clay Shoot to offer free half-day clay pigeon shooting sessions to dads, granddads and even great granddads.

And to mark the close of National Shooting Week (25th May-2nd June), they are also extending this special offer to any dads booking a week-long stay at the farmhouse throughout the month of June.

Aikbank is perfectly placed for family gatherings and celebrations, being just a 5-minute drive from junction 36 of the M6, set in 17 acres of countryside for complete privacy, and sleeping up to 10 people.

If dad has worked up a thirst after showing off his shooting prowess, Aikbank is also less than a mile to the award-winning watering hole, The Plough Inn at Lupton – sister inn of the renowned Punch Bowl Inn at Crosthwaite.

An archetypal 18th century farmhouse surrounded by bluebells and lambs from the outside, step inside Aikbank and prepare to be wowed by the design.

Downstairs, the lounge has a huge sumptuous sofa and wood burner as well as a couple of quirky, nostalgic Sixties egg chairs. The fully equipped country kitchen has a bespoke heavy oak dining table that will easily seat 10 and French doors leading to an outside patio area with barbecue. There is another separate dining room seating 10 and snug TV room with dark hessian walls for optimum TV and DVD viewing.

Five double bedrooms upstairs have been individually and lovingly designed with custom made furniture to fit the shape of the sloping roof and its original beams. Each bedroom has its own sleek Roberts iPod docking station and two have en-suite shower rooms. There is also a family bathroom with luxurious claw footed bath and selection of local Bath House toiletries.

Weekend stays for Fathers Day including free half-day clay pigeon shooting at Crabtree Clay Shoot is priced at just £1,650 based on a party of 10. Discounts are available for couples or smaller groups of less than six.

Week-long clay pigeon shooting breaks throughout June are now available from a reduced rate of £1,935 – less than £30 per person per night based on a party of 10.
